Citizens of Los Santos,
In the absence of a formal Mayoral Surgery this week, I am writing this statement to be released through Weasel News to let you all know what’s going on at City Hall. Firstly, let me state once more that it is an honour to be able to serve each and every one of you, and I will continue to do so as long as you will have me.
In the past weeks, we have begun to fill the desks of City Hall with our new Civil Service – and it gives me great pleasure to announce the first 2 to join the ranks. Paddy McGinty, formerly of Patterson’s Cab Co, will now fill the role of Media Officer while Lenny Burge, formerly of Los Santos EMS, will fill the role of Policy Officer. Expect to see both out representing the municipal government for as long as they are able – as a reminder, these are Civil Service jobs and they are employees of the city, not directly tied to my time as Mayor, or any other future Mayor. As of this time, we have been unable to fill the position of Business Liaison Officer but will be looking to do this in the coming weeks – as well as looking to open further Civil Service and City Hall job possibilities.
Secondly, I would like to take a moment to discuss the future of law-making. We are currently waiting on the paperwork going through to finalise 2 changes promised before election. Namely, I have spoken with the Police Commissioner for advisement on Gun Control regulations and can reveal that in the very near future the availability of arms for both Hunting and Personal Protection at Ammunation will increase to include a larger variety of options for citizens with the relevant license.
On top of this, I have also been in talks with Director Jammin of Los Santos EMS and have managed to happily bring down the healthcare costs for you, the citizens of this great city. When the paperwork is processed, your visits to the local and duty doctors at Pillbox hospital will be reduced by a third to $400. This is, after much discussion, the lowest that can be managed currently while still allowing staff to be trained, paid, and able to deliver an outstanding service. We will, however, be investigating avenues to take this down further as time goes on and as demand requires.
Finally, it was announced last week that The Patterson Foundation has been formally set up, and $17,000 will be made available for local businesses to apply for. I am happy to let you all know that applications are open from now until the end of the month – so if you have a currently existing business that could be expanded, a business that is struggling, or even an idea for a new endeavour in this fine city, do not hesitate to apply for your share of the pot. Applications will be open until the month’s end, and the Foundation is always looking for donors to contribute to next month’s grant.
The job never stops, and while sometimes word from City Hall may have seemed slow this past month rest assured that through tireless work and discussion, we now have a much greater framework to continue our work of raising this city up. We continue plans to generate an income for City Hall that can be used to help all citizens, to make the basic amenities more affordable for all, for more opportunities to be the kind of person you want to be – and more policies that require yet more research. Your support, as always, is greatly received. I will not let you down.
Thank you for your time – and God Bless Los Santos.
Mayor Oliver Patterson
Mayor of Los Santos
