As the warm evening sun began to set on Los Santos, an enthusiastic and supportive crowd of citizens gathered on the front steps of the courthouse, summoned by an official LSPD press release announcing the occurrence of an important event.
Led by Chief of Police Jon Taffer, the event began with a warm welcome to the gathered citizens, as well as the introduction of several officers in attendance. As Taffer was speaking, the whirring sound of a helicopter began to thunder above the crowd. An LSPD helicopter, piloted by Commissioner Sid Hunter, hovered above momentarily. Suddenly Officer Roger Tenfur, in an extraordinary display, flaunting both the unchecked funding for and the pomposity of the LSPD, rappelled into the center of the crowd.
Once the extravagant introductions were done, the ceremony began. Officer Spike Spiegel recounted the dramatic story of a dark night, when a shootout with the Royals at the UWU cafe left officers in desperate need of assistance. However, in their darkest moment, someone stepped forward to help. That someone being esteemed journalist Jay Walker. During the heat of the action, Mr. Walker bravely, at risk of his own safety, entered the scene and tended to Officer Spiegel, eventually transporting the officer to Pillbox for medical treatment, thus saving the officer’s life.
At that moment, Officer Tenfur stepped forward to speak. Tenfur stated he was recently the recipient of a cash award for his exceptional police work from the LSPD, however he felt compelled to bestow the gift to someone more deserving, someone who put their own personal safety on the line to save a fellow citizen. Tenfur then turned to Mr. Walker holding out a check in the amount of $50,000.
Walker, briefly speechless at this unexpected reward, gathered his wits and explained that he felt it was his civic duty to act and that as a reporter he is in a privileged position of being on scene where his assistance may be required. Walker stated he would continue to do his absolute best to serve his fellow citizens to the best of his ability. And as fireworks burst to life in the night sky,all those in attendance erupted into applause, cheering on their local hero.
