A still night, clear sky, moon high. I’m called to meet with an up & coming rap star in the cemetery at West Eclipse Boulevard, a bit of an ominous location to be sure. Two blacked out hearses roll into the parking lot of the church and begin a slow drive, winding through the tight paths among the graves. The cars stop, their blinding lights in my eyes. A sharply dressed figure breaks through the radiance of the lights. “Yo dawg, I’m Rizzle, what’s poppin?”
Clad in a dark suit, red tie & bowler hat, Rizzle cuts a dashing figure, exhibiting the professionalism and demeanour of someone who means business. His tailored suit, neatly trimmed blond hair & chiseled features belie the raw lyrics of his latest track “Misfitz”, a fierce hype track full of clever yet somewhat disturbing wordplay about his close group of friends “The Misfitz”. Little is known about this group, aside from the lyrics of this song, which undoubtedly, as is custom in the rap world, have been greatly exaggerated.
As a matter of fact, little is known about Rizzle himself. He most likely grew from humble beginnings, as he will confirm he is from Sandy Shores, an area well known for providing poor economic opportunities for its residents. However, as seen through his performance at the recent talent show as well as this newly released track, Rizzle’s path is well set to stardom. His presence, set to make an impact on the music scene for years to come. And I, for one, look forward to bearing witness to his talent as his star continues to rise.
You can find his newest track here as well as other previously released material on Soundcloud.
